Winery style doesn’t have to be complicated. Ultimately, the goal is to craft classic looks and style pairings with a unique twist. You want to choose pieces that are casual yet classy, timeless yet not overdone. A winery visit is not a stuffy or formal event, but it is an elevated one. Relaxed but stylish fashion is key to fitting in perfectly at a winery.

So much of our sense of taste is tied to our sense of smell, and any interference can impact not only your own wine tasting experience, but the experience of those around you. Think of wearing perfume at a winery as wearing a neon minidress to a funeral or a bathing suit to your grandfather’s retirement party – it’s a major faux pas. Instead, bring a small travel size bottle and feel free to apply afterward for the rest of your day. Another cosmetic rule of thumb to keep in mind is to always wear smudge-free lipstick to a winery. After all, you don’t want to leave lipstick residue every time you take a sip from a wine glass.

While temperatures are cooler than the rest of the year, they are still pleasant, with average temperatures in the high 50s and low 60s during the day and the low 40s and high 30s at night. These mild winter days sometimes come with rain and cloudy skies, but the cooler temperatures also mean less traffic and visitors, so you’re likely to have a more private winery experience with less local traffic during the winter months. The evenings are often still chilly, averaging in the mid to high 40s. The colors of the valley are beautiful this time of year, with greens and yellows everywhere that you turn. Summer is an ideal chance to relax and unwind, and what better way to do so than with incredible wine in one of the most beautiful places in the world? Summer lasts from June to early August in Napa, and is filled with sunkissed days and warm nights. The temperatures can get rather high, ranging from the high 80s to mid 90s, depending on how far north you travel, but the glorious lack of humidity makes the heat far more pleasant. Evenings bring a break from the high temperatures, generally ranging in the 50s to low 60s.
