The Etruscans of Ancient Italy: Celebrating the Original Party Hosts

The Etruscans were a civilization of people who lived in the modern-day Tuscany area of Italy from the 8th to the 5th century B.C.  Their influence on ancient Roman and European culture was profound.  Many say the Romans inherited their own cultural and artistic traditions from the Etruscans, such as temple design, religious rituals, winemaking, and gathering friends and family for large, outdoor dinner celebrations.

Join us for a fascinating look at the Etruscan culture with one of the most knowledgeable experts on Ancient Italian Studies, Lisa Pieraccini.  Lisa is the project director for the Del Chiaro Center for Ancient Italian Studies at UC Berkeley.  She’ll give an informative lecture with visuals, as she shows us the Etruscan ruins and tombs that she has studied for years.

Stefano Masanti will bring the Etruscan culture to life by creating a meal using many of the same ingredients and techniques used by the lost civilization.  This will be a fun and delicious educational experience!

No need to travel to Italy for acclaimed, authentic Italian cuisine.  Michelin Star Chef Stefano Masanti brings his restaurant, Il Cantinone, to the cellars of V. Sattui Winery for two very special “pop-up” dinners.

Now you’ll have the chance to experience the cuisine that has earned him a Michelin Star!  We’ll turn Stefano and his wife, Raffaella, loose in our kitchen to create their own menu made with local ingredients, and paired with V. Sattui wines. Taste the best of his Lombardian kitchen with a five-course meal with many surprises along the way.

Stefano’s wife, Raffaella, a credentialed sommelier, will pair V. Sattui wines to complete this unforgettable evening.

Dine al fresco with us at V. Sattui’s own Chic Pizza & Vino night!

Italian Michelin-Star Chef, Stefano Masanti, will create a wide variety of decadent, upscale pizzas at our outdoor pizza oven on our lush picnic grounds.  Watch as he expertly tosses dough made with the Italian classic “00” flour, buckwheat flour, and rice flour.  He’ll top them with lavish ingredients like V. Sattui’s own housemade charcuterie, Foie Gras, and hand-pulled mozzarella cheese.  Other innovative toppings will include local produce, seafood, and even a dessert pizza!

Each pizza Stefano creates will be served right after pulling it from the pizza oven and paired with one of V. Sattui’s acclaimed wines.

Harvest Ball

Plans are underway for the greatest party of the year –V. Sattui’s Harvest Ball!  The evening of Saturday, September 17th promises to beat all others, as we celebrate with the finest cuisine of Italy, paired with the greatest of V. Sattui wines and get-up-out-of-your-seat music and dancing.

The evening begins with champagne flowing on our outdoor terraces with passed Italian antipasti and live classical music. Later you will be led to a big top tent in Vittorio’s Vineyard where a six-course banquet, prepared by a celebrity Italian chef and paired with V. Sattui’s finest wines, including Reserves and older vintages.

Chef Marco moriHarvest Ball Chef, Marco Mori

Chef Marco is a self-taught chef who currently works at Agriturismo La Costa in the Italian town of La Valletta Brianza. La Costa is one of the most highly acclaimed farm-stay accommodations in Italy. Guests who stay at this working farm are treated to Marco’s cooking, using ingredients harvested right from the gardens on the property. La Costa is located about a hour’s drive north of Milan.

Marco is versed in the Slow Food philosophy using quality, local foods that are produced using sustainable and organic practices. He is looking forward to foraging the Napa Valley for ingredients and creating a memorable meal for this very special Harvest Ball.

Super Diamond Dinner Show
Exuberant dinner entertainment by San Francisco’s own Super Diamond, endorsed by Neil Diamond himself as his favorite tribute band. They’ll be performing the timeless classics including “Sweet Caroline,” “America,” “Cherry Cherry;” “Song Sung Blue,” “Forever in Blue Jeans” and many more.

Dance into the night with Club 90
After dinner, the party will spill onto the Winery production floor for more music and dancing. We’ve booked our favorite 90s dance bands in the San Francisco Bay Area music scene for this year’s Ball. Club 90 is a high-energy, choreographed dance party show featuring the pop hits from the 1960’s to today’s Top 40 and Dance Music.

Michelin star chefs Stefano Masanti and Marco Mori host a hands-on authentic Italian cooking class for Harvest Ball guests.  Guests will gather in our V. Sattui Kitchen & Salumeria with both chefs as they work their culinary magic in these intimate sessions.  Be ready to help chop, stir, and taste!  Stefano and Marco will demonstrate and share 4-5 recipes concluding with guests enjoying the entire meal paired with V. Sattui wines.

Winemaker Brooks Painter will be your personal tour guide during a behind-the-scenes tour through the winery’s facilities, including the vineyards, crush pad and production room.  The tour will conclude with a private tasting of our award-winning wines.
