Craig says that in all his years working at restaurants (where he performed pretty much every possible position), he wouldn’t see as many people in a week as he sees in a day at V. Sattui, and he thrives on the challenge. He says that at V. Sattui, “I have learned to expect the unexpected, be ready for anything and everything, and to be nimble!”

He has always enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with friends and family, starting with his own family growing up. Born and raised in Chico, Ca, he had a “fairly standard middle class life,” running track and cross country and playing soccer and football. After 3 years in community college, he realized he couldn’t sit at a desk full time, found his path in hospitality, and hasn’t looked back.

Since starting at V. Sattui as the Deli Manager in 2018 and evolving into Hospitality Manager, he says, “My food knowledge and especially my wine knowledge has grown immensely. But I love the people! Getting to know them and their stories is one of my favorite things, along with the relationships with my coworkers. They teach, encourage, and challenge me daily.”

Craig lives in Vacaville with his wife, two children, and two dogs. He spends a lot of time cooking and exploring, hiking, snowboarding, and walking. He says that “Anytime we can welcome folks into our home is time well spent.” This is definitely the case at the winery, where his warmth is well-known throughout the valley.
