This year we are very excited to announce that we will enjoy the cuisine of Lombardia, through the culinary talents of our good friend, celebrated chef and restaurateur,
Cesare Comani.
Watch this video from our 2012 event!
Just about an hour’s drive north of Milano, near Lago Maggiore, you’ll find Ristorante
“da Cesarino” di Cerana Piera, in the village of Comabbio. Here you will find without exaggeration, some of the finest food in all of Lombardia. Everything is made from scratch. They make their own pasta and gelato. Procuitto hams fill the cellars aging until perfection. A vat of homemade grappa ages with hand-picked boysenberries until the flavors are fused into a smooth, flavorful and intoxicating liqueur. The nearby lakes of Lago di Monate and Comabbio provide the freshest fish, while local cows give superb milk and butter used for cooking rather than oil.

Cesare’s commitment to quality and to Lombardian tradition has made his family’s restaurant a destination for locals, business people, visiting Milanese and tourists.
At this year’s Harvest Ball banquet, Cesare Comani will share with us his favorite menus, highlighting the traditional cuisine of Lombardia. Preparations for this dinner began over a year ago, with Cesare researching and developing a menu that would define the essence of Lombardia and of his province, Varese.
Our 28th Annual Harvest Ball dinners will be nothing short of spectacular. As in past years, you will be greeted on our outdoor patios with flutes of sparkling champagne and you will be treated to Cesare’s antipasto creations. This memorable feast will be housed in a magnificent tent set in the winery’s vineyard, which will also feature a great dinner show tribute to Stevie Wonder. Dinner will be accompanied by some of V. Sattui’s finest vintages, young and old. Dario Sattui has also promised to share a surprise or two from his personal cellar (in the past these wines have been over twenty years old).
Of course a Ball is not a Ball without dancing, which begins immediately following dessert on a dance floor set-up in the winery, featuring one of the very best R & B bands in the Bay area. Sunday morning is our version of a “hair-of-the-dog” buffet with Italian pastries, fruit and sparkling mimosas. Get plenty of rest before this party – you’re going to need it!
A Weekend Event
Make it a weekend by attending one or all of several events surrounding the Ball, including Chef Cesare's Wine & Food Reception and Cooking Demonstration on Friday evening! There will be two private Tasting Tours with Director of Winemaking Brooks Painter on Saturday morning; then, of course, you can return to the Winery early Sunday for our traditional ‘morning-after’ mimosas and Italian pastries.
This is an annual event that always sells out. Harvest is an exciting time in the Napa Valley, but it’s also a busy one; so reserve your overnight accommodations early also.
