If you’re new to the idea or unclear on the concept, let us give you a brief 101 on the program, which is really very simple:
Every year, when the new vintage is still in barrel, we allocate a small percentage (±15%) to Futures purchases; that is, while the wines are still aging and before they’re bottled, you may purchase it by the case with a 50% deposit, thus locking in a lower price than when the wine is eventually available to the public.
During subsequent visits, you can taste the wines as they age and develop to further hone your skills of appreciation. Once the wine is bottled, two or three years from the vintage date, a notice is sent to you with the balance and instructions for shipping or pickup.
We hope that each of you will consider taking advantage of our Futures program. You’ll save money on the wines you buy, there’s opportunity for price appreciation later and you’ll be sure to receive our very best wines before they sell out.
2013 Another Classic Vintage Year
Perfect seasonal weather at harvest provided the final chapter in the story of the great 2013 vintage, one that is already being compared to the phenomenon of last year, both in quality and yields. We knew in early spring that we had yet another very good vintage on our hands—with just enough rainfall and an even fruit set. But as the year progressed, another season of amazing weather allowed fruit to ripen evenly and completely, and we realized that we were experiencing what is perhaps a second consecutive “perfect” vintage—long and cool, and with outstanding fruit. The fruit came in clean, evenly-ripened and very flavorful; and our Cabernet Sauvignon—the bellwether varietal—saw extended hang time before harvest as the cooler nights allowed the fruit to maintain acidity through ripening and provided deep, dark coloring, which bodes well for high quality. Another classic vintage year... with delicious wines.
