Red Wines
V. Sattui sits in the heart of Napa Valley’s “red wine country,” where the region’s greatest Cabernets, Merlots and Zinfandels are made. No less than four vineyard-designated Cabernet Sauvignons are produced each year, including the always spectacular Preston Vineyard and Morisoli Vineyard Cabernets, and up to seven single-vineyard Zinfandels as well, most notably from Black-Sears Vineyard on Howell Mountain. Our Henry Ranch in Carneros produces lovely Pinot Noir and Merlot.
Planted between 1916 and 1918 in the Dry Creek Valley near Geyserville in northern Sonoma County, the oldest vines in Joe Ramazzotti’s hallowed vineyard came from the old Mazzoni Zinfandel clone, thought to be on e of the original heritage clones dating back to the mid-19th century.
Sweetly scented with cherry fruit and notes of clove and cinnamon, our estate-grown Pinot Noir from our cool Carneros vineyard at Henry Ranch is deeply flavored and complex.
This high-elevation, 82-acre vineyard with sweeping views of the Ukiah Valley, sells to only a handful of small, respected wineries, like Navarro, Rosenblum, Sean Thackrey and V. Sattui.
Enjoy this fruit-driven youngster throughout the decade with steaks, roasts and stews.
Eighty year old vines are the genesis for this very expressive single-vineyard bottling that has quickly become one of our most sought-after Zinfandel's.
The grapes for this wine come from Preston Vineyard located in the Rutherford Appellation, an area where some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley is grown. The region is known for its gravelly soils which produce rich and opulent red wines with fine-grained tannins and incredible complexity.
This was V. Sattui's thirty-first vintage of fine Cabernets produced from this tiny Rutherford vineyard.
Full-bodied and densely purple, belying its soft tannins, this deliciously accessible Cabernet, a Bordeaux-like blend of four grape varieties, is distinctive and deceptively smooth. Its varietal composition is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petite Verdot. Our Henry Ranch and Preston Vineyards are the main contributors to the blend which, after most of it underwent malolactic fermentation, was barrel-aged 556 days before being bottled June 16, 2009.
Straight from Italy's fabled Chianti Classico district comes this Sangiovese made by V. Sattui at our Tuscan property near Siena.
This blockbuster Rutherford bench Cabernet has a dense core of blackberry, olive and black licorice on the palate with ample tannins, good acidity and a lingering fruit finish.
