The ‘09 Napa Valley Cabernet is a perfect example of concentration and intensity. Dark, brooding and inky, this blend of Cabernets from Stagecoach, Henry, Preston and Vittorio’s Vineyards—along with 3% Petit Verdot —even at 3½ years old, is still coming out of its barrel-bound slumber. The aromas of black fruits are clearly there in the nose, promising richer rewards with additional aging. The ripe fruit flavors are simmering under a blanket of moderate tannins from 18 months in new French oak.

It’s related to the Moscato made in the northern Italian province of Piedmonte in the Asti area where Moscato di Canelli is the grape used. These grapes yield a wine that is highly scented and very distinguishable, with the pronounced aromas of ripe peach, orange blossom and spice.
