This is V. Sattui’s fourth vintage of Paradiso, our red Proprietary, Bordeaux-style blend that changes in varietal composition from vintage to vintage. The 2010 Paradiso, from one of the longest and coolest growing seasons in Napa Valley, is a blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot and 5% Petite Verdot. The Cabernet comes from three different vineyard locations: 40-year old vines from Preston Vineyard in Rutherford, bringing bright, very and ripe, dusty notes; hillside, VSP-trained vines at Henry Ranch in the cooler Mt. Veeder appellation, offering color and concentrated fruit flavors; and the gravelly soils of Morisoli Vineyard on the Rutherford Bench, where volcanic deposits as well as alluvial deposits produce big, muscular Cabernets. The Merlot is also from Henry Ranch in Los Carneros, where the deeper soils near Carneros Creek provide excellent pigment and fine-grain tannins in the wine; and the Petite Verdot comes from Vittorio’s Vineyard, our certified organic vineyard adjacent to V. Sattui winery in St. Helena.
"Medium-dark to dark ruby; attractive, forward, spicy, complex, dark cherry and blackberry fruit aroma with hints of cassis, dried herbs, anise, and cocoa; full body; forward, rich, rounded, red and black fruit flavors that are nicely balanced and structured for near term drinking as well as for extended bottle aging; full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Very highly recommended." - CA Grapevine
"A mouthwatering amalgam of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot the wine is as inky as a midnight sky on a moonless night. With both power and elegance it dazzles with its very dark fruit flavors enhanced by hints of chocolate and black licorice." - Maguerite Thomas, Autumn in a Glass.
