The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Preston Vineyard, one of our top Rutherford Appellation vineyards, while the Merlot is from our Henry Ranch and finally, the Petit Verdot is from the excellent "Vittorio's Vineyard" adjacent to the winery in St. Helena. The dusty, mocha and cassis-filled Rutherford Cabernet combines with cool-climate, elegant Carneros Merlot, which is then topped off with the inky, cedary, aromatic Vittorio's Vineyard Petit Verdot.
Ripe black cherry fruit, hints of coffee and cocoa, black currant in the nose - it shows fruit and tannin structure and complexity that portends excellent long-term age worthiness. "We are trying to achieve a clear balance and harmony among the components," says Brooks Painter, Director of Winemaking. "The different attributes of each grape engage masterfully with one another to create an extremely enjoyable drinking experience - a real marvel of a wine. After 18 months of bottle age it has developed a very interesting and complex bouquet and depth of flavors that will deliver in the nose and on the palate. We're extremely pleased with the result - Enjoy!"
