Although we have introduced and added other single-vineyard Cabernets during that time, and there are staunch followers of our Morisoli, Vittorio's and Mt. Veeder Vineyard Cabernets, many still consider Preston Cabernet to be the single best wine we make here most years; and the 2006 goes a long way towards proving this point. "A Classic Rutherford Cabernet" said noted wine writer Dan Berger on a tasting visit to the Winery not long ago. It's a medium full-bodied wine, nearly always accessible even from the barrel. I like to say it’s more feminine than our other Cabernets because of its softer mouthfeel, its understatement and its early drinkability. It has concentrated aromas of black cherry, spice and mint with rich full flavors of earth and cedar…a beautiful, luscious, elegant wine, not overpowering nor excessively alcoholic or tannic.
