This Rutherford-bred Cabernet from the tiny Morisoli Vineyard, shows beautiful fruit ripeness, seamless texture and the power and elegance so characteristic of this stellar vineyard.
This full-bodied, dark berried, mouth-filling Cabernet is sourced from the Preston Vineyard located in the Rutherford Appellation. The region is known for its gravelly soils which produce rich, opulent red wines with fine-grained tannins and incredible complexity.
Vittorio’s Vineyard, about thirty acres adjacent to the winery on the south side, is planted about half to Cabernet Sauvignon. The soils are gravelly loam and marginally fertile, which stresses the vines and produces excellent quality grapes. The vineyard enjoys a microclimate that is perfectly suited to Cabernet and the four other varieties (Merlot, Petit Verdot, Syrah & Zinfandel) planted there.
**NEW VINTAGE**
The ‘09 Napa Valley Cabernet is a perfect example of concentration and intensity. Dark, brooding and inky, this blend of Cabernets from Stagecoach, Henry, Preston and Vittorio’s Vineyards—along with 3% Petit Verdot —even at 3½ years old, is still coming out of its barrel-bound slumber. The aromas of black fruits are clearly there in the nose, promising richer rewards with additional aging. The ripe fruit flavors are simmering under a blanket of moderate tannins from 18 months in new French oak.
This lovely hillside Cabernet shows expressive, mountain-bred fruit flavors of crushed berry, cassis and plum punctuated by bright herbal notes and cedar.
Some of California’s most sought-after and expensive wines come out of the Rutherford AVA, the historical core of the Napa Valley and from where V. Sattui has been producing Preston Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons for more than thirty-three years.
Since 1994 V. Sattui has been producing stellar Cabernets from tiny Morisoli Vineyard, located in the very heart of Napa Valley’s Rutherford Appellation, planted in the deep rich soils on the western Napa Valley floor, just west of the small town of Rutherford.
Our Family Cabernet is always a wine that you don’t have to wait on to develop and that you can open any day of the week. It’s usually always made from Napa Valley grapes and is often a blend; but what we try to achieve is a soft, appealing style of Cabernet that’s drinkable now while it’s young.
