The Italians like sparkling wines, but they prefer them lightly so "Frizzante" they say.
Riesling is made throughout the world, with the best examples coming from Germany, France’s Alsace region, south Australia, the Marlborough region of New Zealand, Washington state and, of course, northern California. Although its style varies, the varietal is typically low in alcohol, high in natural acidity and has the aromas and flavors of citrus, apple, apricot, pineapple, peach and pear, with hints of earth and mineral.
Our hearty blend of mostly Zinfandel is ideal for mid-week or anytime enjoyment with pasta, pizza or burgers, and it has a price that is most affordable. But this has much more going on than any table red; this is a serious wine. And one taste confirms this. Its ripe, plummy flavors explode in the mouth with straightforward, refreshing fruitiness, all rounded out with hints of vanilla and spicy oak in the finish.
Just released, this delicately-flavored young Pinot has smooth drinkability and bright cherry fruit, with enticing herbal and earthy aromas followed by ripe black cherry and pomegranate flavors.
The ‘08 Napa Valley Cabernet is a perfect example of concentration and intensity. Dark, brooding and inky, this blend of Cabernets from Henry, Preston and Vittorio’s Vineyards—along with 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc—even at 3½ years old, is still coming out of its barrel-bound slumber. The aromas of black fruits are clearly there in the nose, promising richer rewards with additional aging. The ripe fruit flavors are simmering under a blanket of moderate tannins from 17 months in new French oak.
This lighter bodied Chardonnay has aromas of honeydew and almond, with flavors of pear and apple, with just a hint of lightly toasted oak.
One of V. Sattui's most popular wines since we first began producing this brilliant rose more than twenty-five years ago. This is a beautiful, ruby-colored wine with bright fruit flavors and a slight tart-cherry finish making it a good match with so many foods - including the holiday turkey!
We don’t make much of this wine; some years we don’t make any. But those who have had this crisp, medium-sweet blend of Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Marsanne, Roussanne and Semillon know that it’s one of our best values…and the perfect buffet and party wine.
Merlot is a noble, rich and plump transplant from the wealthiest of Bordeaux estates. It's an early-ripening grape and loves the cooler climates of Washington State, the Santa Barbara area and Napa Valley's Los Carneros district.
25-acre Black-Sears Vineyard sits atop the Vaca Range on the eastern side of the Napa Valley and at the northernmost boundary of the Howell Mountain sub-appellation of Napa.
